HTML PLAIN reference V1.1

This project has been submitted for the Computer Science department of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Duncan Smeed from the Computer Science department was the supervisor, and gave me a good idea of the initial concept, mainly of the file management aspect. Without these ideas, the project would have turned out quite differently, and the file management aspect would have been largely missing.
Many of these ideas stem from Frontier [Fro], a commercial tool for MacIntosh. HTML PLAIN implements about of Frontier's functionality, although not always in the same way. However, it lacks some of Frontier's bugs (e. g. a URL is surrounded with a link tag even if this has been done manually) and also has no support yet for dynamically generated pages (with CGI). Nevertheless, the first steps for this have been done. A future CGI expansion only has to replace the strings in double quotes - this can be done much faster than if a program had to parse everything.
I do not have Frontier and only had a glimpse at what it does. Therefore this program is in no way a replacement for it. Nor was the aim taken to make it compatible in any way.
Special thanks also go to Jens Jensen, for sending me a patch addressing one of the most difficult problems - a correct header/footer inclusion; Jens Benecke, for some good suggestions, especially about pointing out some important weaknesses in the README file; and to Tzafrir Cohen for testing the configuration tools under Windows 98, having the patience to change the path names (the installer was not written at that time).
