The ``fight or flight'' option is a tough one. Either one works great for alligators, neither works well for lions, but I lean towards fighting lions unless I know that I can reach a swamp quickly - lions don't seem to like swamps. Alligators are easy to kill, but if they aren't in my way, I'll run away from them just to save time and keep my villager near full strength.

It is a tough call if they are 10 - 20% wounded. It is hard to consider that seriously wounded, but villagers often come out of a fight with a lion with only 10% of their hit points left, so it may be wise to replace even slightly wounded explorers.

Is this micromanagement worth it? I think it is, but only on the first berry bush. Four optimal foragers will generate 104 food per minute whereas two optimal and two non optimal foragers will generate only 96 per minute. Whereas 104 is essentially the 105 that the town center can conceivably use in a minute, 96 guarantees a 10% slip in villager production.
